Why is Air Conditioning so Important in Hotels?

Air conditioning is important to travellers worldwide. It is an essential element to providing guests with a truly comfortable stay. Hotels with no air conditioning in place, or that run a poorly maintained system, have been known to suffer from bad reviews on popular travel blogs, hindering their online reputation. More often than not, the management team have had to react to the issues raised online. However, situations like this can be prevented if a credible air conditioning company is responsible for the hotel’s air conditioning maintenance.

Fortunately, Synecore provides an all-encompassing Planned Preventative Maintenance scheme to avoid any major breakdown and faults within an AC system. If a problem should arise, Synecore’s air conditioning  24/7 emergency call out service ensure an engineer is onsite as soon as possible.

Where there is no air conditioning in place, or  a replacement system is required, Synecore can provide an efficient hotel air conditioning installation throughout the property. The system would be designed to suit the scale of the building, the various room uses within the hotel or B&B and the interior design.

Types of Hotel Air Conditioning Installations

Let’s look at the type of air conditioning installations that are most suited to hotels developments of all sizes. Most significantly, we advise hotels that each room has the ability to adjust the temperature to the guest’s preference and has sufficient ventilation for optimum comfort during their stay. To enable this, the hotel HVAC system should have the flexibility to cool and heat individual rooms simultaneously.

– Large hotels

The best solution for large hotels is a VRV 3-pipe or VRF 2-pipe outdoor air conditioning system, which can accommodate up to 50 indoor units. Team this with a heat recovery ventilation system that reuses energy from warmer spaces – such as a server room or kitchen – to heat other areas, or provide hot water, while removing stale air and replacing it with fresh.

For this scale of AC system an outside space is necessary. Usually a roof top or outside courtyard is preferred.

For large hotels, a central control panel is essential. This computer operated control system can be used to manage each indoor unit and detect any leaks or faults within the system to ensure every room consistently provides adequate heating, ventilation and air conditioning all year round. Typically, the central control system is operated by the hotel’s front of house team, who can be alerted immediately if a fault is detected.

– Small Hotels and B&Bs

For smaller scale hotel developments in the heart of a city centre, we can install a truly unobtrusive and energy efficient HVAC system. A particular air conditioning product by Daikin features an indoor compressor (usually the compressor is situated outside) that makes a similar low-level noise to a refrigerator. The only aspect visible from the outside are exterior vents that can be disguised within the architecture of the building.

This is a great invention by Daikin that is most suited to highly populated areas, where noise pollution can be an issue. Synecore was the first to install this patented air conditioning system in the UK and we continue to champion its contemporary approach to commercial air conditioning.

If outside space is not an issue, the multi-split outdoor unit is ideal for small hotels and B&Bs. This system can also be used for additional rooms in large hotel developments and can accommodate up to 11 indoor units. Multiple outdoor units can be installed to accommodate larger properties.

– Indoor Units

There are a wide range of indoor air conditioning units available. These include:

  • Ducted units which can be discretely installed into false walls and ceilings.
  • Cassette panels are streamlined to fit in a suspended ceiling, or they can be fully exposed for that industrial look.
  • Wall mounted units come in a range of colours and are a subtle addition to a room.
  • Door curtains are typically situated near to an entrance to prevent a change in the indoor climate as the external door opens and closes.
  • Floor standing units are situated at floor level and can be disguised within walls and bespoke furnishings.
