Prince of Wales

Opens at Heathrow Airport Terminal 4

Synecore performs yet another outstanding airside electrical installation

The former Bridge Bar at Heathrow Airport was recently transformed to become the new Prince of Wales pub. For the redevelopment, Synecore once again had the opportunity to display its expertise in professional airside electrical installation.

The new Prince of Wales pub at Heathrow’s Terminal 4 belongs to hospitality giants, The Restaurant Group (TRG). The firm is renowned for its collection of restaurants, pubs, bars and sandwich shops. Its extensive portfolio includes the likes of Frankie and Benny’s, Chiquito, Coast to Coast, Garfunkels and Joes Kitchen.

The Prince of Wales pub is one of TRG’s numerous airport concessions, comprising Giraffe, WonderTree, Nicolas Culpepper and Comptoir Libanais, to name but a few.

Over the years Synecore has developed a strong relationship with TRG, becoming a preferred supplier for its roll out of restaurants and concessions nationwide. Synecore’s expertise of airside electrical design and installation is favoured by TRG for enabling the firm to open on time and on budget.

The preparation involved in airside electrical and mechanical installations is often as lengthy as the time spent on site. The permissions and approvals for airside construction are laborious and very complex. Every engineer, all the equipment, materials and designs must be inspected prior to beginning work onsite. The schedules are often tight and therefore every minor detail must be intricately planned.

This was certainly the same scenario for the Prince of Wales pub at Heathrow Airport. Synecore was contracted to provide the front of house electrical installation over a nine week programme. Within the electrical design and installation Synecore was responsible for:

  • New lighting
  • Emergency lighting
  • Laptop power points
  • Remedial works
  • New data cabling
  • New TV installation

The Prince of Wales pub is now open for business and a popular choice with Heathrow’s visitors that enjoy the familiarity and warmth of the Great British pub!
